COMMUNITY HEALTH UPDATE
Covid-19/Coronavirus

August 15, 2020

Lutheran Home received the remainder of results from last week’s testing for COVID-19. All of those results were negative. Campus-wide testing for residents and associates occurred this week as well. Lutheran Home has now received 70% of this week’s results.

Zero residents have tested positive.

Two associates have tested positive for COVID-19. Residents and associates who had direct contact with these individuals have been notified. The return to work procedure and timing for associates who test positive for COVID-19 follows Cook County Department of Public Health guidance and Lutheran Home policy.

At Lutheran Home, we continue to actively follow the strict guidelines for senior living communities as directed by the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and IDPH as follows:

  • Limit visitation to scheduled outdoor visits in designated, supervised locations and certain compassionate care situations, such as end of life residents

  • Restrict all volunteers and non-essential health care personnel (e.g., barbers)

  • Active screening of residents and health care personnel for fever and respiratory symptoms

  • Universal masking for all associates and external caregivers

  • Separation and isolation of residents when there is COVID-19 cases within the resident population

We know, especially during these trying times, these restrictions are incredibly difficult for everyone. We do appreciate your partnership in helping Lutheran Home to vigilantly navigate the challenges of COVID-19. Thank you so much for your continued prayers, support and understanding.

Lutheran Home has now received 75% of the results from this past week’s campus-wide resident and associate testing for COVID-19.

One recent admission to short-term rehabilitation has tested positive for COVID-19. All new patients are admitted to a quarantined unit, where advanced PPE, distancing measures and precautions are in place, for the first 14 days of their stay. This MyRehab patient was within that quarantine unit and has returned to the hospital for treatment.

One associate has tested positive for COVID-19. Residents and associates who had direct contact with this individual have been notified. The return to work procedure and timing for associates who test positive for COVID-19 follows Cook County Department of Public Health guidance and Lutheran Home policy.

July 31, 2020

One Lutheran Home associate has tested positive for COVID-19. This associate last worked July 23. Their role does not have direct contact with our resident population at Lutheran Home. Associates who had direct contact with this individual have been notified. The return to work procedure and timing for associates who test positive for COVID-19 follows Cook County Department of Public Health guidance and Lutheran Home policy.

Next week, all Lutheran Home residents and associates will be tested for COVID-19. We will share the results of our campus wide testing.
